Wedding planning tips

Your wedding day is the most important day of your life and there are several points to consider when thinking about planning a wedding, some of the most important of these are:

Which type of ceremony?

There are basically three different types of ceremony to choose from, these are a civil ceremony in a licensed building, a religious ceremony in a church or a civil ceremony in a register office.

The time of year and the date

A lot of people choose the summer months to get married because of obvious reasons such as the weather; however winter weddings can also be beautiful too. Choosing the time of year is really just a matter of preference but remember that photographers and car hire can be cheaper in the winter months.

Another point to consider is the availability of the register office or church and the reception, in the summer months they can become booked up early. Also many car hire firms and photographers will offer discounted rates for weddings that take place during a weekday instead of a weekend.

The theme and style of the wedding

One of most important things you will have to consider is the type of wedding you are going to have, do you want a quiet wedding with just the closest family members or do you want a huge formal white wedding with a big party afterward.

Whichever wedding you choose you should pick a theme for it; the theme can be determined by your favourite colour with flowers that match, it could be a shared interest or hobby or maybe you would prefer to have a register office ceremony followed by a Las Vegas style reception with roulette wheels and blackjack. The theme could be anything that interests the both of you.

Be sensible when it comes to budgeting

Most couples will have to budget for their wedding so right from the start set out that budget and stick to it no matter what, decide what is most important to the two of you with regards to your wedding and open a special bank account to save regularly. With a little fore thought you can have your perfect wedding no matter how tight the budget.

Choosing the best man and bridesmaids

Your best man and bridesmaids will play an important role in your wedding so choose them wisely. Some people hate being in the limelight so don't be offended if the first person you choose turns you down, it is important however that you have those around you that you can trust and who will be there for you at the time you need them.

Book early to avoid disappointment

Once you have the date booked for your wedding don't leave it until the last minute to book the florist, reception venue, car hire or photographer, depending on when you choose to have your wedding especially in the summer months reception halls and photographers can get booked months in advance and if you're set on a particular one you could be disappointed.
