Wedding planning tips

Nobody wants to think of anything bad happening on their wedding day but things do happen and many people now are turning to insuring their wedding day just as they would their property or belongings. Weddings after all are very expensive and if worse did come to worse then at least you would be able to recover some if not all of the costs.

What does the insurance cover?

* The weather - The weather as we so often know can be unpredictable and even summer weddings are no exception, if due to adverse weather conditions the ceremony cannot take place and has to be rescheduled then the policy should cover this.

* An illness or injury to the bride and groom - illness or injury can creep up on us at any time and again if the bride or groom suffers from illness or injury which prevents them from attending the ceremony then you should be covered by the insurance.

* A missing minister - If the person who is marrying you should not turn up and you cannot get married then you should be able to recover some if not all of the cost of your wedding if you have to reschedule.

* Missing vendors - If the florist, caterers or any other key vendor doesn't show up then you should be covered by the insurance and be able to recover some of the costs and more than likely the cost of having to reschedule if it came to that.

* The location of the wedding - your insurance should cover the cost of any mishaps to the venue where you are holding the reception, an example of this would be fire damage preventing use of the venue, electrical and mechanical problems or the venue going out of business before the wedding.

Of course the exact things which are covered will reflect on the price you are willing to pay for the wedding insurance policy so it is always important that you fully understand what is covered as not all policies will cover all of the above.

Cancellation of the wedding due to cold feet isn't covered by the wedding and of course things that you already knew about before taking out the policy won't be. Additional insurance you can opt to take are:

* Military service - if the bride or groom is in service then insurance can be taken out in case you are called to duty and the wedding has to be rescheduled.

* Wedding gowns and tuxedos - any bridal wear or suits that have been hired can be insured against accidental damage or the store going out of business before the wedding.

* Honeymoon - insurance can be taken out for bad weather, cancellation due to illness or unforeseen circumstances which ends in the cancellation of the honeymoon.
