Wedding planning tips

Capturing your big day on film will be something you can treasure years later and for this you will need to employ a professional photographer. Many photographers these days offer not only still photographs but as part of a package you can now have your wedding captured on video.

Start visiting photographers in plenty of time especially if the wedding will be during the summer months, a professional photographer can get booked up months in advance. Always ask to view albums and see photographs that the photographer has personally taken not just in a catalogue and make sure you state if you want any particular photographs taken of groups of family or friends.

It is also worthwhile considering beforehand the style and mixture of photographs that you prefer, for example candid shots, formal and natural shots. Most photographers now offer photographs in colour, black and white and sepia with special effects. The majority of your album will of course be colour but sepia close up shots can also add that special romantic touch to your album.

A professional photographer will ask you beforehand about the theme and style of your wedding so they will be prepared and may also offer you the possibility of taking the wedding photos in a studio with background should the weather be extreme.

Depending on where you choose to be married you will have to find out if there are any restrictions for photographs to be taken, this is more so during the actual wedding ceremony.

The actual cost of your wedding album will vary from photographer to photographer and the style and type of album and the amount of photos you choose. Remember if you wish to have your wedding captured on video to ask the photographer as many now do include video as a package.

Important questions to ask the photographer are

* How long they will be available during the day?

* Does the price include VAT and travel expenses?

* How many photos are covered by the price quoted?

* How big the photographs are?

* Does the price quoted include the actual album?

* When the photographs will be ready for collection.

* How soon after choosing the photographs you want to appear in the album will the album be ready?

* Will the album include a title page and guest page?

* Will he be able to supply any special requirements such as ordering extra prints, framed or canvas prints or special smaller albums for parents of the bride and groom?

When you have chosen a photographer make sure that you have a written contract with him that includes the total cost and any requirements that you have specifically made.
