Wedding reception venue tipsWedding planningDeciding on the type of venue for your wedding will depend basically on the type of wedding you will be having, for example are you having a church wedding, register office or a civil wedding in a licensed building? Other points to consider are the amount of guests who will be attending, the theme or style of your wedding and how far you wish to travel to the venue after the ceremony and of course how much you wish to spend on the reception itself. Whichever type of venue you choose bear in mind that if it is a summer wedding then book early, summer weddings are more popular and if you have your heart set on a particular venue then it may be booked months in advance especially if it is in a popular location. Another point to consider is that the venue suits the requirements of the wedding party, for example are there any guests attending that are disabled and if so can they easily gain access to the venue?, if the venue will be providing the entertainment and drinks then do they serve late? Hotels Hotels are a very popular place to hold wedding receptions, many of the big hotels offer wedding packages and some may offer discounts for accommodation for the wedding party. It is wise to make a short list of hotels and visit each one beforehand and have a meal in the restaurant to see for yourself the quality of food and the service they give. When you have chosen a suitable place to hold the reception make sure they know exactly how many people they will be catering for and any special dietary requirements that have to be met. Marquees If you wish to hold your reception at home then marquees are the perfect solution, they come in two different types the first being the traditional marquee that needs a grass site and the frame structured marquee that can be sited anywhere. The company where you hire the marquee will also provide you with a dance floor, tables and chairs and other equipment associated with an outdoor wedding. Some of the companies will also provide food, decorations and entertainment as a complete package; if the wedding is in the cooler months then heating is also supplied as are covered in walkways in case of bad weather. Other places to consider Your reception is only limited by your imagination, you can hold it virtually anywhere you wish, and unusual places for the reception could be on river boats, stately homes, castles or racecourses. Other popular places are your local pub or your favourite restaurant. Whichever place you choose to hold your wedding reception here are points that you should always remember: * Inform the venue of the final numbers of guests attending a month before the date. * Book as early as you possibly can to avoid disappointment. * Make sure you know exactly what's covered in any package deals. * If you have chosen a restaurant of pub will you have exclusive use of the room for the reception.
