Countdown to your wedding dayWedding planning tipsFrom the moment the proposal is made to the big day arriving time will just fly by and before you know it you could have a huge panic on your hands, follow this simple guide and you will be worry and stress free right up to the big day: 8 months before the big day * Decide how many guests will be attending the wedding and make a list. * Decide on the type of venue for the reception and book it. * Decide on the type of catering you require and book it. * Book the photographer. * Decide on the type of transport and book it. * Decide on the type of bouquet and flowers and book with the florist. * Choose where you are going for your honeymoon and apply for passports if needed. * Decide on the type of cake you want and order it. * Start looking at wedding dresses. * Choose your bridesmaids and ushers. * Choose your best man. 5 months before the big day * Attend the initial fitting of your wedding dress. * Choose your shoes and accessories to go with your dress. * Choose clothes for the groom, best man, fathers and mothers. * Choose your wedding rings. * Notify any relevant authorities of your name change and the date it commences. * Choose and order wedding invitations and stationery. * If you wish to take out wedding insurance then do it now. * Book any hair stylists or beauticians for your wedding day. 3 months before the big day * Buy your marriage license from the registrar. * Write and send out your invitations. * Make your wedding gift list available. * Confirm the wedding ceremony details. * Have order of service sheets printed. * Discuss the seating arraignments for the reception. * Get any vaccinations that are needed for the honeymoon. * Begin to plan your hen or stag parties. 1 month before the big day * Have the final fitting of your wedding dress. * Reconfirm all arraignments. * Finalise the seating plan for the reception. * Arrange a date for the wedding rehearsal. * Send out thank you cards to all the guests who responded to your invitations. * Organise when to pick up your wedding outfits. * Write the wedding speeches. 7 days before you wedding * Make final arraignments for your honeymoon. * Break new shoes in around the house. * Make sure your minister has the order of service sheets. * Order any foreign currency or travellers cheques. * Give the rings to the best man.
